  • We use hand sanitizer before entering a customer’s property.
  • We will remain at a safe social distance and will not be shaking hands.

What is the difference between a single and double-cylinder deadbolt lock?

door with deadbolt lockIt’s pretty easy to tell a single-cylinder deadbolt lock apart from a double cylinder lock.

A single-cylinder deadbolt has a slot for a key only on the side that will be mounted on the outside of the door, while the other side has some type of turning mechanism, usually a thumb-turn. It is set to face inside, to be used to lock or unlock the door without having to use keys.

Advantages of single-cylinder deadbolt lock are low cost, in case of an emergency it’s easy to get outside, and general ease of use.

The main difference between a double-cylinder deadbolt is that it has a slot for a key on the front (outside) and back (inside). which means that a key is needed to turn the lock on both sides.
This offers more security but also has the drawback that in an emergency the key Is needed to unlock the door.

Both types of locks are available for residential and commercial use.

Yes Virginia, there are honest locksmiths

These days it seems there are nothing but bad locksmiths around, out to scam hardworking people. A Google search produces pages and pages of locksmith scams and locksmith horror stories where everyday people fall victim to unscrupulous, fake locksmiths.

Well, we’re here to tell you that not all locksmiths are bad. Our company, J & B Locksmith Service, has been installing and repairing a variety of locking systems for over 40 years.

When you call us you talk to a real person in our office, not somebody in a call center thousands of miles away. We are licensed and insured. We show up when we say we’ll be there, and we charge reasonable rates – just like a lot of other honest locksmiths located throughout the United States.

So this holiday season we want to tell you, yes, there are a lot of locksmith scams going on. But at the same time, there are also a lot of trustworthy, reliable locksmith services out there, and we are one of these locksmith companies.

We wish all our clients and website visitors a wonderful and happy holiday season!
