Happy and safe Halloween
Ghosts and goblins will be out and about once again this Halloween…
… in Connecticut and throughout the country. We all should take a moment to think about precautions to make this a safe and fun night for our kids and grownups alike.
- If you’re driving watch for children walking on the street. Be especially careful around parked cars, kids could come out between cars.
- Give your kids flashlights with fresh batteries or at least glow sticks so that they can be seen.
- Use brightly colored costumes for your kids if possible. If your child has a dark colored costume put reflective tape strips on the back and shoes.
- Plan to take kids to familiar neighborhoods.
- Make sure your kids know your cell phone number so they can call you in case you get separated. Or you might even loan them a mobile phone so you can be easily reached.
- Don’t let little kids go out trick or treating alone, always accompany them. Older kids should go out in groups and stay together.
- Teach your kids not to eat any candy or other treats until they come back home and you had a chance to check out the loot.
- Avoid homemade treats unless you know the person who made them well.
Halloween is one of the most exciting time for kids, Following these simple tips will help keep everyone safe and make it a fun holiday.

Tips to keep your home and family protected this Halloween
If you’re out and about this Halloween attending one of the many fun Halloween events in the Hartford area make sure you’re following these tips to keep your home and your family protected from scary witches and mischievous goblins.
- Don’t post your Halloween plans on Facebook, Twitter, etc. – even if you’re planning on staying home. Twitter posts are for everyone to see (unless you set your tweets to be protected). No need for the world to know where exactly you are and what you are planning. It makes it really easy for burglars to get exact details about your whereabouts and to help themselves to your belongings while you are out.
- Motion sensor lights are great to have. Not only do they help the trick-or-treaters find their way safely to your front door, they also help keep pranksters away.
- If you are leaving the house to go to a halloween party or an event, and you have a home security system, make sure you activate it.
- Keep pets inside. Many pets get frightened by unexpected noises and lots of people walking around and might run off.
Stay safe this Halloween, and don’t forget – Jim is a CT licensed Locksmith with over 30 years experience. He’ll repair your locks or install a new lock at your Connecticut home or business and you’ll never have to worry. Simply email or give him a call at 860-678-9797.
Happy Halloween Connecticut
Trick-or-treating is a fun thing to do and lots of kids will be out going around the neighborhoods on Halloween in Connecticut and all over the country asking for candy. While little kids are happy collecting their treats without performing any tricks, teenage and young adult trick-or-treaters may be in a mischevious mood and forget about that some things just shouldn’t be done. Burglars of course might take the opportunity to give you a “special” treat by breaking into your house or apartment. Continue reading Happy Halloween Connecticut
